The Red Bull Amaphiko Academy is a launchpad for grassroots social entrepreneurs who are making a positive difference in their community. Over the course of 10 days, participants receive inspiration and mentorship, as well as the practical skills and tools needed to take their projects to the next level. Afterwards, they team up with a one-on-one mentor and together they develop business, personal and strategic development plans that they bring to life over the following 18 months.

The inaugural Academy was hosted in 2014 in Soweto, followed by a second South African Academy in 2015 in Langa. It returned in 2017 to Mamelodi. Follow the journey of these 16 inspiring social entrepreneurs including bricklayer and founder of HUSTLENOMICS Nhlanhla Ndlovu who is replacing shacks with brick houses whilst training up young builders and Murendeni Mafumo who has developed water filtration tech using macadamia shells.
